Amendment 11 explained

GREG FOX IS HERE TO CLEAR IT ALL
UP. GREG, THIS IS ANOTHER BUNDLED
AMENDMENT. REPORTER THAT WE HAVE SEEN THAT
A HANDFUL OF TIMES. SO, IT DOES A FEW DIFFERENT
THINGS TO CHANGE THE STATE
CONSTITUTION, IF 60% OF VOTERS
APPROVE IT. THIS AMENDMENT ENSURES THAT
CRIMINAL DEFENDANTS ARE
PROSECUTED UNDER THE MOST
CURRENT LAWS ON THE BOOKS. IT REMOVES OBSOLETE LANGUAGE ON
PROPERTY RIGHTS, AND IT REMOVES
OLD HIGH SPEED RAIL LANGUAGE
FROM THE CONSTITUTION. VOTING “YES” ALSO ELIMINATES A
PORTION OF THE CONSTITUTION THAT
CALLED FOR AGAIN THAT HIGH SPEED
RAIL. LET’S EXPLAIN THESE FURTHER,
STARTING WITH THE PROVISION ON
PROSECUTION. CURRENTLY, IF SOMEONE COMMITS A
CRIME ON ONE DAY, AND IS LATER
CAPTURED AND PROSECUTED UNDER A
LAW THAT HAS BEEN AMENDED, THEY
WOULD STILL BE PROSECUTED UNDER
THE OLD LAW. VOTING “YES” ON 11 ENSURES THAT
THE PROSECUTION IS CONDUCTED
UNDER THE NEWEST VERSION OF A
LAW. AS FOR THE HIGH SPEED RAIL
LANGUAGE, NEARLY TWO DECADE AGO,
VOTERS APPROVED BUILDING AN
ELEVATED, MAGNETICALLY-LEVITATED
TRAIN LIKE THIS ONE AS PART OF A
STATEWIDE NETWORK OF HIGH SPEED TRAINS. BUT IT HAD TO BE BUILT BY 2003,
AND IT WASN’T SO VOTING YES ON
, 11 REMOVES THAT LANGUAGE FROM
THE CONSTITUTION. FINALLY, A CENTURY-OLD PART OF
THE CONSTITUTION THAT BANNED
ALIENS INELIGIBLE FOR
CITIZENSHIP FROM OWNING PROPERTY
WILL BE DELETED IF VOTERS GIVE
THIS A YES VOT. THERE IS NO ORGANIZED OPPOSITION
TO AMENDMENT
