BEFORE THE TOWN THIS WAS ONE MEMORABLE STORM. Reporter: BACK-TO-SCHOOL CONTINUES ACROSS THE STATE. TODAY JEFFERSON COUNTY WELCOMES 86,000 STUDENTS. WE LOOK AT THE BIGGEST CHANGE COMING TO SCHOOLS LIKE ALL-DAY KINDERGARTEN. Reporter: JEFFERSON COUNTY STUDENTS ARE HEADING BACK TO THE CLASSROOM TODAY HEADING INTO THIS NEW SCHOOL YEAR. ONE THING FAMILIES MAY NOTICE A BIG CHANGE IS FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN AVAILABLE AND FREE FOR ALL FAMILIES. IT’S THIS YEAR ALL COLORADO KIDS ACROSS THE STATE HAVE A CHOICE TO ATTEND FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN FOR PRE-. IT WAS SOMETHING THE GOVERNOR SIGNED INTO LAW THIS YEAR. PREVIOUSLY STUDENTS COULD ATTEND HALF-DAY OR PAY THE FULL DAY. WITH THIS FAMILIES CAN SAVE $3000 A YEAR IN TUITION. THE SCHOOLS AND PROPERTY TAXES FUND FULL-DAY INSTEAD. ELIZABETH SMITH A TEACHER IN JEFFERSON COUNTY HAS BEEN A TEACHER FOR 22 YEARS AND OF COURSE SHE IS SO EXCITED TO MEET HER NEW STUDENTS AND SET ALLOWING ALL FAMILIES ACCESS TO FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN IS EXTREMELY BENEFICIAL. I THINK IT’S BENEFICIAL. WHAT WE EXPECT KINDERGARTNERS TO DO NOW AND SCHOOL IS SO MUCH DIFFERENT THAN 20 YEARS AGO WHEN I STARTED. FULL-DAY THEY ARE NOT RUSHED. THEY HAVE TIME TO PLAY AND GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER AND THE SCHOOL. THEY HAVE MORE TIME TO LEARN THEIR NAME AND JUST BUILD A COMMUNITY. THE GROWTH SHE SEES WITH THE STUDENTS THROUGH FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN IS JUST PHENOMENAL. ANOTHER BIG CHANGE FAMILIES MAY NOTICE IF THIS IS THE END OF TRANSITIONING SIXTH-GRADE FROM
