Domestic Workers Rights Rally – Dolores

Dolores: I just want to let you know that
it’s with great joy and pride that I join my sisters here today. I just want you to
know that … Don’t look at our numbers because we are strong and remember that you might
be few of us here today, but you are with us in spirit. This trouble is not just up
here. It’s all over. We are facing the same thing in New York.
I know that it’s not … Listen to me when I say this. Don’t because you think we’re
up here, we are immune to these people. We are fighting, but we are going through the
same thing because they’re not pick and they don’t choose who they should discriminate
against. We’re working long hours. How much money we are carrying home? On Fridays, some
of us can’t even pay our rent. We are sick sometimes. We can’t hardly get
up out of our bed, but because we know we have our obligations to meet, we still have
to go out here, working sick. Some of us, if we take a sick bed, we don’t get paid for
it.

@whoo689 a domestic worker is NOT a prostitute, they are nannies, housekeepers, cooks and people who care for elderly all in the home.
