How to Create a Username and Password for Business Owners


[Music] In this video, we will show you how to create a
username and password if you are a business owner. We protect all of your confidential information
throughout the filing process. First, go to the website, CDTFA.CA.GOV, and,
at the top, click on “Login.” If you’ve never had an account with the
CDTFA, you can click “Register,”… …and it will take you to the same place. The Taxpayer Online Services Portal. Click on “Sign Up Now.” The Welcome page will ask you if you are the
owner of the business or a third party delegate. In this case, click the owner of the business. Click “Next.” The next page – Security Code – asks if
you’ve received a security code by mail from the CDTFA. We’re going to click “No,” and follow
the prompts to initiate the process of a letter being sent to you. Request a Security Code is the next page. Enter the required information identifying
yourself one of three ways: Driver License Number, Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or Social Security Number. Once you’ve filled out all the information,
hit “Submit.” Your code will be sent to your mailing address
on file and will arrive in 7-10 business days. Remember, if your mailing address has changed,
contact us to update it, so you will receive your security code. As an owner, that code will give you access
to all the accounts to which you are registered. You’ll then see the Confirmation page with
a confirmation number. Again, you’ll have to wait 7-10 business
days to receive your code. However, if you need your security code sooner,
you can visit one of our local offices or call us at 1-800-400-7115. You need to use your security code within
90 days to setup your username and password, or it will expire. Click “I’m done.” It will take you to CDTFA Online Services. Once you have the security code,
now you can sign up. You will see the Welcome page, and select
the box saying you are the business owner. Click “Next.” The next screen, Security Code, will ask you
if you’ve received a letter from the CDTFA. And this time we’ll click “Yes.” On the next screen, Business Information,
this is where you will enter the security code you received. After that, fill out all the required information
and click “Next.” The Login Information screen will be where
you create your username and password. You’ll need to confirm both. Then set up your secret question and answer
and confirm the answer before clicking “Next.” The Contact Information page will ask for
your email and to confirm it, as well as a phone number where you can be reached. After filling out the required information,
click” Next,”… … and the Authentication Information Page
will ask how you’d like to receive your authentication code: by email, text, or both. In this new system, we have two authentication
factors to verify that you’re logging in from a new computer and
this is, in fact, you. In our example, we will select “Only email.” Click “Submit,”… …and the Confirmation screen will appear. You can print this screen using the “Printable
View” button. Then click “I’m done,”… …which returns you to the Login home screen. Now you can enter your username and the password,
and you’ll be logged into your accounts. If you still have questions, please call our
