but its still a fine. whats the difference? it costs the same as it did before. only except if a cop wanted to be an asshole he had that option of putting cuffs on you and hauling you away to jail to be accused, face a judge …..and end up paying the same fine anyway. the only difference is that the cop cant be an asshole about it anymore because the jails are full of ACTUAL CRIMINALS these days like gangs and violent offenders and those that are AN ACTUAL danger to the public or others. so 25,000 people will be released from jail and/or have their records expunged. imagine our corrections system with 25,000 vacant jail cells??? WOW!!! now they can fill them up WITH ACTUAL REAL CRIMINALS THAT DESERVE TO BE IN JAIL!!!! yeah and the only reason Cuomo signed off on it is to get re=elected instead of assassinated to get him out of the way like was going to happen soon. but we know his TRUE COLORS and this little last-second show of compassion is just a ruse and a gimmick to get himself another term. but we as new yorkers KNOW BETTER THAN THAT. we know HE IS THE REASON it hasn't been fully recreationally legalized statewide yet. hes the one that held us back for the past decade so he can make his fat salary. well this is too little too late for him. but hopefully the next person that gets that seat will set our whole system free by making it fully legal for kicks and giggles just like alcohol and stupid deadly cigarettes have been for a century. all the same silly arguments they had back then with beer is the same stupid arguments they have now that they try to put on weed. kids will do them. yeah o.k. kids drink too. always have. the ones that will will, and the ones that wont wont. legal or not. drunks ruin thier lives by being drunks. o.k. legal or not that hasn't changed either. drunks will always drink and drive. always have always will. but does EVERYONE drink??? OF COURSE NOT!! does everyone smoke pot? OF COURSE NOT!! will it be any lees available for those who use it or abuse it, legal or not? OF COURSE NOT!! but will legalizing pot and letting the potency be further increased drive up the prices of it??? HELL YEAH!!! will the state/county of the transactions rack up millions of extra dollars per month? ABSOLUTELY!! will the common low-level street dealer be out of business? NOT A CHANCE! theres always an underground economy that involves tax-free and discount products just like cigarettes and alcohol. no worse than taking a reservation run to buy 20 cartons of 25 dollar a carton cigarettes and bringing them into Nassau and the city(that great city) to sell to folks for 40-60 bucks a carton, still giving a great deal to friends and neighbors. just with a slightly inferior product. like 'regular' grade street weed versus high grade California medical grade purple dream-whatever name they give a variety with high potency. there wont be any difference in the way the public does their thing with it. its no different than alcohol tobacco and firearms. and soon the a.t.f. will have to be re-named A.T.F.W. LOL!!!! but hey progress takes time. ideas can be slow to change. so can goverment as we can see. once the jails empty out a bit, the greed will force the state to fully legalize recreationally. because they see the revenue in all the other states that new York is missing out on. and new York being the greediest place on the earth they wont be able to sit back and watch the common street dealers bring the state an occasional 150-200 bucks fine once they realize its only about 2 percent of transactions of possessors actually get caught with it on them! LOL! losing 98 per cent of that pie will just be too much for the state to stand after just a couple of more years once they realize how many new Yorkers smoke pot. theres more pot smokers than cigarette smokers in the state. once realized, they wont be able to control their greed.
