Opinion | President Trump lacks the courage to act on gun reform

-Frankly, we need intelligent
background checks, okay? This isn’t a question of NRA,
Republican or Democrat. I will tell you spoke to
Mitch McConnell yesterday. He’s totally on board. We don’t want insane people,
mentally ill people, bad people, dangerous people. We don’t want guns in the hands
of the wrong people. -We can confirm at least 41 spent shell casings
from his weapon. -It was a fraction
of his firepower. Police Chief Richard Biehl said
Betts may have had as many as 250 rounds of ammunition,
plus a shotgun in his car. -This bill is just incredibly
popular, and people want it now. They want something now. -Well, Congress
is working on that. They have bipartisan committees
working on background checks and various other things,
and we’ll see. I don’t want people to forget that this is
a mental health problem. I don’t want them to forget that
because it is. It’s a mental health problem. It’s the people
that pull the trigger. It’s not the gun
that pulls the trigger. The concept of mental
institution has to be looked at. I believe that the concept also
of voter identification has to be looked at. You can’t have that
national security unless you’re going to have
voter identification. It’s something people
have to look at very strongly. -Sir, what does that have to do
with guns.

Snap your fingers and make all guns go away.

No body will have guns, but the bad guys can still make bombs.

Ask yourself if you would rather have a chance fighting someone who has a gun, or just get blown up by a bomb.

Disarming good men will never make bad men harmless.

'The Donald' cares only about what benefits and/or pleases 'The Donald'.

Gun violence, mass shootings do not (he thinks) affect him so he really does not care about this issue.

Let's ban rifles. Let's say that it actually does stop murders with rifles.

Congratulations! You've stopped 400 deaths. That's not enough, they realize. Now, let's finally go after handguns.

Are we slipping down the slope fast enough, yet?

frankly, leftist media political expectations are the very last democracy component to even begin to pretend to define courage, especially when they still cant even go from donna brazile to bruce ohr to epstein without some mueller time amnesia. the president is not persuaded by corrupt clinton scam consensus crap or the desperate intern impeached illegal interference emotions or the anti constitutional ford flopped 'service', and hes definitely not impressed with the posts struggles to alternate their foreign policy blunder image projects to their domestically polluted demands, despite desperately begging for it to be called some low quality replacement for actual news. its not, but the president didnt say he wouldnt help.

Trump is a fraud. He's not a public servant or a governing official. He's a conman and a traitor. He only works for his own self-interest. He says whatever gets him more money, more attention, or more chaos. He has no plan, no values, no ethical center. He hustles the crowd until he gets what he wants. He does not care if people get killed through his words or actions.

Depends how you look at it, some would say it takes courage to stand up for 2nd amendment rights despite the turmoil. I agree with trump actually, mainly because most shootings are in Chicago or Baltimore or detroit or flint….. yet none of those ever get mentioned for some reason. Only the sliver of a percentage of gun violence ever makes the news, and that clearly shows some sort of narrative that makes it hard to trust

Gun control isn't anything he promised his supporters, so why should he do the democrats bidding. He is the most courageous President in the 21st century.

This why we should stand as one and never let anyone take away our rights! Especially our own government.

Funny how the WaPo's editorial board blames Trump for personally not doing enough on issues they support, but defends Congress and the Senate when they stop him from doing things they disagree with.

Noce try washington post but it won't work. Americans keeping thier way of life takes more courage than giving it up for pipe dreams.

    Lacks the courage? Really? 🤦‍♂️
What a bunch of bullshit. All to blame inanimate objects for people's actions.

Seems more like gun haters are too cowardly to admit it's the people behind the gun that are to blame, not the inanimate object they are holding. 🤦‍♂️

So we have a bunch of cowards calling others cowards, because they don't blame inanimate objects for people's crimes. 🤦‍♂️💯

All so they can bash trump.
