Senate Republicans: ‘I Don’t Understand This Piece Of Legislation’ | Morning Joe | MSNBC

DONORS.
HE’S JUST GOVERNING LIKE YET ANOTHER BIG GOVERNMENT
REPUBLICAN. >>THAT HE IS.
ALL RIGHT. MAJORITY LEADER MITCH McCONNELL
SAYS HE HOPES IT TO PASS THANK YOU THE VOTE ON HEALTH CARE.
AT THE MOMENT FIVE SENATE REPUBLICANS HAVE SAID THEY JUST
CAN’T BACK THE BILL. SOME CONSERVATIVES ARE CONCERNED
IT’S NOT ENOUGH OF A REPEAL OF OBAMACARE AS WE HEARD JUST A
MINUTE AGO. BUT MODERATES ALSO ARE NOT
ONBOARD LIKE NEVADA’S DEAN HELLER WHO IS CONCERNED ABOUT
CUTS TO MEDICAID. HELLER IS UP FOR RE-ELECTION IN
THE STATE HILLARY CLINTON CARRIED IN THE PRESIDENTIAL
ELECTION, AND NOW THE PRO-TRUMP PAC PRIORITIES — IT’S FUNNY
WHEN YOU WATCH SOMEBODY STUMBLE INTO SOMETHING THEY’RE JUST NO
GOOD AT IT. THEY’RE JUST STUPID, RIGHT?
IT’S LIKE A DONKEY ARE TRYING TO WORK AN iPHONE.
THEY’RE GOING TO LAUNCH A $7 MILLION AD BLITZ.
HAVE YOU SEEN A DONKEY TRY TO WORK AN iPHONE?
OF COURSE NOT, YOU’RE A YANKEE. >>IN “SHREK 7.”
>>EXACTLY. BUT THEY’RE ACTUALLY LAUNCHING A
SEVEN-FIGURE AD. TRUMP.
AGAINST REPUBLICAN SENATORS. >>REALLY CONSTRUCTIVE USE OF
RESOURCES. >>AND IT SENDS A MESSAGE TO ALL
THE OTHER REPUBLICANS ON CAPITOL HILL WHICH IS, YOU KNOW, FINE,
OKAY. IS THAT HOW YOU WANT TO PLAY
COWBOY? WE’LL PLAY THAT WAY.
BILL CLINTON YOU COULD IMPEACH HIM ON A THURSDAY AND HE WOULD
GO GOLFING WITH YOU ON FRIDAY. HE KNEW HE WAS ALWAYS GOING TO
NEED YOUR VOTE THE NEXT WEEK. “THE WASHINGTON POST” IS ALSO
REPORTING THAT OTHER GROUPS HAVE ALREADY BEEN UP IN THE AIR FOR A
VERY LONG TIME IN NEVADA WITH ADS LIKE THESE.
>>ALL RIGHT, LET’S GET STARTED. YOU’RE BOTH OVER 50?
>>YES. >>OKAY, THAT WILL COST YOU.
>>WHY? >>THE NEW HEALTH CARE BILL IN
CONGRESS. IF IT YOU’RE OVER 50 INSURANCE
COMPANIES CAN CHARGE YOU FIVE TIMES MORE.
IT’S AN AGE TAX. >>SENATOR HELLER, WHEN THIS
HAPPENS, SHE ISN’T THINKING ABOUT THE HEALTH CARE BILL IN
CONGRESS. SHE ISN’T THINKING THAT IT WILL
FORCE HER TO CHOOSE BETWEEN FILLING HIS PRESCRIPTIONS OR
PAYING THEIR MORTGAGE. SHE ISN’T THINKING THAT WHEN HER
PREMIUMS GO UP THEY’LL LOSE THEIR HEALTH INSURANCE, AND SHE
SHOULDN’T HAVE TO BUT YOU SHOULD, SENATOR HELLER.
>>I HAVE TO TELL YOU, OUR PARTY, IF THEY PASS THIS HEALTH
CARE BILL, THEY’RE GOING TO GET ROUTED NEXT YEAR.
WE’RE GOING TO SEE THIS AROUND THE CLOCK.
>>WHY DO SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE PREMIUMS GO UP?
I JUST DON’T GET IT. ACTION FOR THE SAKE OF ACTION
EVEN IF IT’S ACTION THAT IS GOING TO NEGATIVELY IMPACT YOUR
PARTY? >>RIGHT.
PREMIUMS WILL GO UP, I MEAN, EVERYTHING, DEDUCTIBLES ARE
WORSE, RATES ARE WORSE, EVERYTHING GETS MORE DIFFICULT.
AGAIN, FOR THE VERY PEOPLE THAT DONALD TRUMP SAID HE WAS GOING
TO HELP OUT. FOR THE VERY PEOPLE THAT IN
LARGE PART HAVE BEEN THE CORE OF A LOT OF THESE REPUBLICANS’
SUPPORT. THE CORE OF MY SUPPORT.
THE, QUOTE, WINE AND CHEESE REPUBLICANS DIDN’T VOTE FOR ME.
IT WAS WORKING CLASS REPUBLICANS.
>>IT GOES BACK TO AN EARLIER POINT ABOUT THE CONFLICT BETWEEN
CONSERVATIVES AND MODERATE REPUBLICANS AND YOU SAY WHAT’S
THE BRIDGE HERE? WHAT’S THE BRIDGE HAS — THE
BRIDGE HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH TAX CUTS, THE CONNECTION BETWEEN
THE TWO CONSTITUENCIES HERE THAT ARE IN CONFLICT.
IN SOME WAYS — >>THE DONOR CLASS —
>>IF YOU LOOK AT ITS PARTICULARS IT’S A TAX CUT BILI,
WHEN WE LOOK AT THAT THE TWO VARIOUS CONSTITUENCIES CAN COME
TOGETHER. >>I HAVEN’T TALKED TO A
REPUBLICAN WHO SAID IT’S WORTH IT.
>>IT’S A MODEL OF CLARITY COMPARED TO THIS.
>>A UNIFIED PARTY ABOUT HOW THE GOVERNMENT, THE FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT, SHOULD INTERACT WITH THE HEALTH CARE MARKETS.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND THIS PIECE OF LEGISLATION, THE CONSERVATIVE
VISION OF LOWER COVERAGE. NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT A
VISION. THE LOUDEST VOICES SAY THIS IS A
BAD IDEA. HIS DEFENSE IS NOT HONEST ABOUT
WHAT IT WILL BE. >>YOU MUST NOT VOTE FOR THE
BILL AND WE WILL NOT GET SUPREME COURT JUSTICES IN THE FUTURE.
NO, THAT’S JUST THE OPPOSITE. IF THEY PASS THESE BILLS, HEN
NOBODY LIKES THEN THEY’RE GOING TO LOSE THE HOUSE AND THEY’RE
GOING TO LOSE THE SENATE. GARLAND WILL BE THE NEXT SUPREME
COURT JUSTICE. >>THINK ABOUT EVERYTHINGING
MARK SAID IS TRUE — >>WHICH IS FINE WITH MOST
AMERICANS, BY THE WAY. >>ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE,
IT’S GOING TO BE ALL OF THAT CONFUSION, ALL OF THOSE
ARGUMENTS NOT BEING MADE SET AGAINST SOME VERY STARK, VERY
LARGE NUMBER THAT’S GOING TO NOT BE MATERIALLY DIFFERENT.
COULD BE WORSE MAYBE THAN THE HOUSE NUMBER, WHICH WAS PRETTY
DEVASTATING. ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT, THIS ATOM
BOMB WILL GO OFF NOW WITH NO POSITIVE ARGUMENTS BEING MADE
FOR THE BILL. IT’S BRUTAL.
>>YEAH, KASIE HUNT, WHY? IT’S A QUESTION PEOPLE ARE
ALWAYS COMING UP AND ASKING ME WHY DO THIS NOW?
WHY FORCE IT THROUGH? WHY WRITE IT WITH NO
TRANSPARENCY AND THEN TRY TO JAM IT THROUGH THE SENATE, A BILL
THAT’S GOING TO BE WILDLY UNPOPULAR.
>>Reporter: THE CONVENTIONAL WISDOM COMING OUT OF McCONNELL’S
OFFICE SEEMS TO BE THEY FEEL LIKE IT’S MUCH MORE POLITICALLY
WISE TO DO SOMETHING THAN NOTHING.
BUT I HAVE TO TELL YOU, JOE, I DO THINK THAT THERE IS SOMETHING
OF A FUNDAMENTAL MISUNDERSTANDING OF WHAT’S GOING
ON IN THE ELECTORATE. WE TALKED ABOUT THIS OVER AND
OVER AGAIN WHEN PRESIDENT TRUMP WON AND EVERYBODY WAS SO
SURPRISED. NOT EVERYBODY ON THIS SHOW BUT A
LOT OF PEOPLE WERE VERY SURPRISED.
THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS MOVING WAY TO THE LEFT ON THIS ISSUE.
WAY OVER TOWARDS SINGLE PAIR, WAY FARTHER THAN WHERE THEY WERE
WHEN THEY PASSED THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
AND ALL THESE NEW REPUBLICAN VOTERS THAT BACKED PRESIDENT
TRUMP, THEY’RE NOT LOOKING FOR POLICIES LIKE THIS.
AND WHILE, YES, TRUMP RAN ON REPEALING OBAMACARE, HE ALSO
PROMISED NOT THE TO TOUCH MEDICAID, NOT TO TOUCH MEDICARE.
THAT’S WHAT I DON’T UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY THE DISCONNECT
BETWEEN WHAT THE PRESIDENT THINKS OF THIS AND WHERE
REPUBLICAN LEADERS ARE. IT JUST DOES NOT SEEM TO ME THIS
IS A BILL THAT THIS PRESIDENT RAN ON IN 2016.
>>IT’S NOT. YOU CAN GO DOWN THE LIST OF THE
PROMISES DONALD TRUMP MADE, AND IT’S JUST OBJECTIVELY YOU CAN
LINE THEM UP HERE AND EVERYTHING HE PROMISED TO VOTERS IN
WISCONSIN, MICHIGAN, OHIO, AND PENNSYLVANIA HE’S VIOLATED WITH
THESE BILLS. AND ON TOP OF THAT, EDDIE, ONLY
14% OF AMERICANS SUPPORT THESE BILLS.
AND WE DON’T EVEN HAVE THE CBO NUMBERS OUT ON THE SENATE BILL.
IT’S PROBABLY GOING TO BE EVEN WORSE.
>>AND WE LOOK AT THE FOLKS WHO WILL BE DEVASTATED BY IT IF IT’S
PASSED. WE THINK ABOUT HALF OF AMERICA’S
CHILDREN ARE ON MEDICAID. WE THINK ABOUT CLOSE TO 40%.
ABOUT 40% OF THE CHILDREN ARE ON MEDICAID.
POOR FOLK, PARTICULARLY IN THE SOUTH WHERE WE’RE FROM, ARE
DISPROPORTIONATELY ON MEDICAID. >>IF I’M A CONSERVATIVE ON THE
FLOOR AND I’M GOING TO GO OUT AND VOTE FOR MY PARTY’S BILL, IT
HAD BETTER GIVE ME SOMETHING I CAN GO BACK TO MY DISTRICT.
LISTEN, I KNOW THIS IS TOUGH MEDICINE AND NOT EVERYBODY IS
GOING TO BE HELPED BY THIS BILL, BUT THIS IS WHAT THE BILL DOES.
IT’S ACTUALLY — IT BRINGS IN FREE MARKET FORCES AND MOST
IMPORTANTLY IT LOWERS THE COST CURVE FOR OUR HEALTH CARE
INDUSTRY OVER THE NEXT 20 YEARS AND STOPS US FROM BECOMING
BANKRUPT. THIS BILL DOESN’T DO THAT.
IT DOESN’T BRING IN FREE MARKET FORCES, SO EVEN AS A
CONSERVATIVE WHERE I MIGHT BE WILLING TO MAKE SOME REALLY
TOUGH CALLS ON ONE SIDE, IF I GET SOMETHING BACK ON THE OTHER,
THIS BILL DOESN’T EVEN DO THAT. IT DOESN’T MAKE THE SYSTEM
BETTER. WE STILL CAREEN TOWARDS
BANKRUPTCY. ALL IT DOES IS TRANSFERS WEALTH,
ABOUT A TRILLION DOLLARS IN WEALTH FROM THE POOR TO THE
RICH. >>AND HOW DISTURBING IS IT THAT
THIS IS GOING GOING TO REORDER H OF OUR NATION’S ECONOMY AT A
TIME WHEN A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE REAL WILLY STRUGGLING AND
THEY’RE DOING IT WITHOUT ANY REAL DEBATE AND THEY JUST WANT
TO JAM IT — GET IT DONE BEFORE THE FOURTH OF JULY.
>>RIGHT. AND WE HAVE KASIE, WE HAVE SO
MANY QUOTES FROM REPUBLICANS WHO ARE CONCERNED ABOUT BARACK
OBAMA’S ADMINISTRATION NOT BEING TRANSPARENT, ABOUT THEIR HEALTH
CARE BILL. ARE YOU GOING TO GO BACK TO ’93
AND HAVE ALL THE “WALL STREET JOURNAL” EDITORIALS ATTACKING
HILLARY CLINTON AND THE CLINTON CARE COMMISSION FOR NOT BEING
TRANSPARENT AND, MY GOSH, THE COMPLAINTS IT IN ’93, THE
COMPLAINTS AGAIN IN 2009, AND YET HERE THIS IS THE MOST
SECRETIVE, CLOSED PROCESS WE’VE EVER HAD FOR HEALTH CARE REFORM.
THERE’S NOT EVEN A CLOSE SECOND. AND YET THEY PUSH AHEAD.
>>Reporter: LOOK, I COVERED ALL OF THE MARKUPS FOR THE
AFFORDABLE CARE ACT, ALL THE HEARINGS, I MEAN, HOURS AND
HOURS AND HOURS, AND AT THE END OF THE DAY, YES, THEY CRACKED
THE FINAL DEAL BEHIND CLOSED DOORS IN HARRY REID’S OFFICE AND
AS WE KNOW THE STORY THEY PASS ED IT ON CHRISTMAS EVE BUT IT
WAS AFTER A YEAR AND CHANGE OF DEBATE AND DISCUSSION AND BACK
AND FORTH ABOUT THE PUBLIC OPTION TAX CREDITS, THIS, THAT,
THE OTHER THING. THIS IS A VERY, VERY QUICK
PROCESS THAT HAS INVOLVED A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF PEOPLE TO THE
POINT WHERE THOSE OF US WHO HAVE COVERED THIS AS A POLICY ISSUE
FOR YEARS AREN’T EVEN SURE THE RIGHT QUESTION TO ASK BECAUSE WE
DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE TALKING ABOUT AND THERE ARE REPUBLICAN
SENATORS WHO ARE ESSENTIALLY SAYING THE SAME THING ABOUT IT.
AND I THINK THAT’S THE THING TO WATCH THIS WEEK, IN MY VIEW.
YOU HEARD RON JOHNSON SAY IT OVER THE WEEKEND THAT WHAT THEY
WANT TO DO HERE IS DELAY THIS. IF YOU START TO GET MORE
REPUBLICANS WHO ARE SAYING, LOOK, I JUST DON’T WANT TO DO
THAT THIS WEEK, YEAH, IT’LL BE A DELAY BUT IT’S POTENTIALLY ALSO
A DEATH KNELL FOR THE BILL BECAUSE IF THEY DELAY IT THIS
WEEK — AND McCONNELL KNOWS THAT.
THAT’S PART OF THE REASON FOR THIS TIMETABLE.
THEY’RE GOING TO GO HOME FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY RECESS, SEE ALL
OF THESE TOWN HALLS, A LOT OF ANGER AND A POTENTIAL SAPING OF
THE POLITICAL WILL AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU’RE IN AUGUST AND
SEPTEMBER AND WE’RE BACK TO GOVERNING BY CISIS.
>>IT DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY. THE FRONT OF “THE DAILY NEWS,”
ONE OF THE PAPERS THE PRESIDENT READS, HAS THE HEADLINE “ARE
REVOLT.” WE’RE NOT QUITE THERE YET, ARE
WE, KASIE? >>Reporter: NOT YET.
>>THEY’RE STARTING TO MOVE AWAY FROM IT, AREN’T THEY?
>>Reporter: I THINK YOU ARE SEEING EARLY SIGNS THERE ARE
PEOPLE WHO AT LEAST FEEL LIKE, OKAY, LET’S JUST TAKE A BREATH.
ARE LET’S SLOW THIS DOWN. AND IF THAT STARTS TO BECOME THE
MOST PREDOMINANT NARRATIVE I THINK THERE IS A RISK BUT LEAD
ER SHIP WILL HAVE TO PUT THIS OFF.
IF THEY DO THAT IT COULD HAVE MORE FAR-REACHING CONSEQUENCES.
>>ALL RIGHT, AND ONE MORE PIECE OF INFORMATION, THE MOST RECENT
KAISER POLL IS SHOWING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 79 POLLS, MORE
JEDI MIND TRICKS, SUPPORT FOR THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT HAS
PASSED 50%. JUST 30% OF AMERICANS SUPPORT
REPLACEMENT PLANS. LOOK AT THAT.
AGAIN, SO THE JEDI MIND TRICK WAS NOT JUST SPECIFIC TO THE
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, HE COMES BACK AND —
>>THIS REPUBLICAN BILL IS APPARENTLY NOT REPEALING OR
REPLACING OBAMACARE, NOT PRESENTING A FREE MARKET FUTURE
FOR HEALTH CARE, NOT DOING ANYTHING — IT IS DOING ONE
THING, THOUGH. IT’S MAKING OBAMACARE MORE
POPULAR.

Health Care bill drafted by lobbyists of the insurance companies= higher profits. US should do what every other first world country does, single payer. If there are ways to improve the British, French, German, Canadian systems them do it. I mean, Cuba has better health care than the USA

There is a point your conversation misses, I believe. That is, y'all are quite reasonable in asking, What's the rush, why can't this be pushed back? I think the answer to that, at least in part, is in the question, What will they take up next? Fairly soon, they all want to take up "tax reform", whatever that may mean. However, one commentator pointed out that the so-called Health Care bill is more accurately called a Tax Reduction for the 1% bill. The targeted elimination of medicaid the major way that this tax reduction will be done. But, it would be very messy to take up a "tax reform" bill without first having officially done the Tax Reduction for 1% bill. They want to give the 1% major tax reductions because that's to whom they are beholden. But they can't do that without also reducing entitlements simultaneously, or else they'll significantly raise the debt. So that's why they want to jam the faux-healthcare bill through first, because it's really a tax reduction bill.

Trump got part of his travel ban…Trump will get part of his presidency to match. …Mueller is coming with The Truth…Truth Trump can't ban !! Trump has created his own ban from the White House….ironic !! Or Stupid?? No one cares!

6:30 It's not "what the president thinks", it's "what the president promised fools", now he's going to give a huge taxbreak to his donors. Since money doesn't grow on trees it's time some suckers die for the common good. It will trickle down eventually!

Government is the problem people, you cannot fix and ammend an inherantly immoral system based on extortion and coercion and fear based control, it always end very badly for alot of people, the solution is very clear. If you vote, or happily partake in this immoral death cult, dont complain your part of the problem

I genuinely doubt that people will vote Republicans out of the senate or house even if they take away every single right/benefit from the people. All the hopes that dems had about republicans losing popularity vanished, I mean, the Montana guy hit a reporter and got voted in, the Georgia race that people had high hopes for ended up with a republican win. I can assure you that Republicans will maintain their majority Trump will be elected for another term. The very people that were screwed over by Republicans and Trump will vote for them again, All it takes is some fear, uncertainty and doubt at key moments and people will flock to vote for their butcher.

  • Jennifer Prowell

You don't understand why the representatives of the insurance companies and pharmas that have paid millions of dollars for this bill that is going to make them billions of dollars. They are the Repubs constituents. They are going to depend on their donors in 2020 not the poor people in their country they can't get them elected.

  • Donimir Trumpokov

The new healthcare bill is crap. It's NO better than the failing Obamacare. I haven't had health insurance for two years, because I can't afford "Affordable Healthcare"
Just let Obamacare die on it's own.

  • Pamela

It's going to be tragic for those with severe complications, but will also be terrible for average families. I work with a single income family with 5 kids who have an $11,000.00 deductible for their health care now. I can't imagine their future if their policies and expenses get worse. A cold, selfish, and heartless administration and its representatives.

  • J B

The worse healthcare gets, the better..the worse corporate elites behave.. the better. Viva la Revolution!!!🤘😈🤘

  • J Flow

The ignorance of the typical uneducated American voter has brought us this result. Trump supporters are especially dumb. Maybe desperate, but they can't see past their own noses when it comes to important issues.
The challenges that the US has to meet from external forces are formidable. Sadly, I fear the American people are not up to the challenges. They have given up and put Trump into office.

  • The Jackanapes

Senate republicans and democrats: Duuuh I don't understand… how can I steal more energy and time from the American people?

  • Cadmus

It's so weird to go back decades, the time when people would die due to lack of medical care because they couldn't pay the hospital and also insurance premiums were high due to the fact people would go to the emergency room and receive surgery or treatment and guess where the money comes from to cover those expenses, it comes from all of us. Since that never changed why are we making a choice to eliminate a program that not only helps and covers those individuals that can't pay for what they need and yet we will all end up paying for everything all over again since once a person goes to the emergency room they can't be denied life saving medical care by law, the cost has always been passed to the tax payers unless you want the hospital to shut down due to bankruptcy and that will create a worse crisis. Without the ACA people will still require medication, treatment and surgery and all of that doesn't go away because people say I don't want to pay for your medical care and your well being is not my responsibility. How can anyone pretend that we have a society or that The United States of America stands for something good when it's own people say screw you, but I will still care about my own and then a stranger turns out to be your son's or daughter's spouse and then you wonder why they couldn't get early treatment/surgery that could have saved their life since they couldn't pay for it. I get the point that it cost too much but then how is defense spending justified in the hundreds of billions of dollars for decades but it's wrong to invest that money for infrastructure, education and healthcare for all citizens. The country makes less sense as time goes on and it's citizens make the choices that take everything away from them. I don't want to hear politicians proposing, let's create a law that forces hospitals to deny medical care and doesn't legally hold them responsible for a person's death and also stops the goverment from raising taxes to cover such expenses or prohibit insurance companies from charging higher premiums because it seems to be what a lot of people want. Why can't the government create a single payer system that can negotiate lower prices and cover all citizens like so many over countries? Why is the simple act of taking care of your own citizens seen as something evil?

  • beansnrice321

The Republicans are going to pass this bill for the same reason a bully takes your lunch money. Because they can and no one will do anything about it. =(

  • todd dyer

This takes out the biggest Obama legacy and pushes this back to the congress from the Senate and makes the biggest donors happy. It would be nice too see this fail but all they have to do is get the hold out lobbyist jobs if they are booted out of office now a days they tend to get on board with anything.

  • Felix Gonzalez

Pass this bill and tax reform (tax cuts for the rich) or no superpac/billionaire donor money for you Republicans. That's what's driving them to force this through.

  • monjapuppy2009

Stop this insanity!! Make your taxes pay for health care etc. No more IDIOTIC health insurance!
You act like a third world country with this. Even Cuba has free health care!

  • Hekat the Evil B-tch

It would be amusing if this "health care bill" was test marketed on the elected officials for a year or two… Repeal and replace their personal health care first…

  • Jack Gamboa

Oh, come on! You whiny, selfish health-care losers are just jealous of the rich for winning another tax break for themselves; after all THEY bought some senators, so they deserve it.

  • Nate Hoffman

Well, the good thing is that this screws poor people generally more than it screws liberals specifically. There will definitely be a politcal price to pay for it.

  • Big Head

I don't think a lot of Republicans understand. This health issue isn't going away just because you pass a bad bill. It's going to keep goin on until lawmakers start understanding that people know about this now. They need to get it right now.

  • Dawn_PiggieMama16

The fact is until it's recognized there is no such thing as free market healthcare, we will continue to have this ridiculous debate. Even one of their own economists on NBC said for-profit healthcare simply does not exist because going into it is always a lose-lose. That is why the left is shifting further towards single payer, while the right does not get this at all. Don't fool yourself into thinking Trump voters don't like handouts, they most certainly do. They just want handouts for themselves, and the rest of us should go under the bus. I have confidence the senate will pass this bill, just as I have confidence we'll be looking at an almost all Democrat house and Democrat majority in the Senate by next year. It's called gridlock, Joe should know something about that.

  • G11713

Republicans have always preached that tax cuts are the solution to most things and defense spending and deregulation as the solution to the rest. All Trump is doing is showing the party that they don't have to be so cautious with their messaging. The republican electorate are in fact running from commonsense, hugging their imperial system of measurement and belief that good and bad are skin colors. They don't need to be pander to beyond some lip service and legislation to their silly preoccupation with supremacy and nationalism within this one good earth, it seems.

  • lady4real75

For 7 years they bashed the ACA. Unless you do your own research? they won't tell you, they sabotaged the "risk corridors" within the ACA. Since the ACA required insurance companies to sell policies to everyone (even sick people with pre-existing conditions). Insurance companies didn’t know how much to charge in premiums to cover expenses for all those new policies. So the government would subsidize a certain amount to 3 years, 2014-2016.

Marco Rubio went to work, urging then-Speaker of the House John Boehner in October 2014 to block potential tax money appropriations for risk corridor payments. That’s what Congress did. When lawmakers passed a spending bill in December 2014, it included special language called a "rider" that said the CMS’ parent agency, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, could not use any extra money in its budget to pay risk corridor expenses.

This is why premiums went up & companies were leaving the market. While the GOP got on TV everyday saying the ACA is a disaster & it's FAILING. Well they HELPED!

  • milo ethan travis

If me wanting single payer healthcare makes me a lefty like Kasie hunt uttered in her analysis. Then I'm a proud lefty. Healthcare for all, single payer healthcare now.

  • C M

    Following the money by cutting
($trillions$ from 27 tax bills) in the Obamahealthcare bill. It's the only way they can actually get to screw up Trump's tax reforms that only benefits the wealthiest 1%
4 million tax cut for the Trump Brand and don't forget the bankers cartel.

  • Cary Clan

People forget that Fox News and Breitbart are telling everyone that this bill is great and that this is fake news.

  • Brandon Walker

Obamacare supporters complaining about high premiums!😂😂😂Oh my gosh that's an oxymoron of the finest

  • timber_beast

The "free market" that the GOP keeps slavishly praising is actually the best corporate policies that campaign contributions can buy.

  • David McConville

2:40 The answer is quite obvious. Those Republicans don't care about re-election since they know the insurance companies and other leading financial institutions that are against Obamacare will hire them and pay much bigger salaries than their time in office could ever provide. For them, it's about what happens AFTER they leave public 'service.'

  • Flash Gordon

This legislation is a fine example of taxation without representation. Our forefathers had a similar situation to deal with. The outright slapping of the American people in their collective faces is becoming more apparent each day. Obviously the ballot box has become useless as we have become saddled with a polarizing two party political system. Civil disobedience on a massive scale is our only peaceful solution due to party politics not addressing the real desires of the people.

  • spaceship007

Thank you for being a voice of reason in the conservative media. So many keep defending this bill making no sense to me. Keep on being a light in the darkness.

  • Aoudhubillahi

In hindsight, the Tea Party did say a lot about, "Too much Government." Maybe we are witnessing effectively the dismantling of the United States Government. May God make that ineffective. Amen.

  • Richie H e r r m a n

I've supported Trump all the way through and he promised not to touch Medicare or Medicaid please do not touch them it's the people that are struggling that needs this coverage such as me being disabled I can barely afford to eat let alone pay high premiums I've cut out a lot of my medications that I need because I cannot afford them very sad

  • KatysDream

Trump, truly does not care about promises he made in regards to the health care concerns the people who elected him into office on. HE IS A CON ARTIST. He says anything to get what he wants. He will never honor his word to his followers. The only thing the voters can do now is accept that they were conned, get serious, angry, and vote him out of office ASAP!

  • Lillian Ballard

Elise is smart and correct. Why don't they just submit the tax bill.!? Blame the failure on Healthcare, not tax bill. All paid off. illeagel

  • Michael Crumpton

You Don't Understand This Piece Of Legislation? Its very simple. The only thing the GOP cares about is tax cuts.

  • donbsea

Who is the blonde woman in the blue dress? She wondered how the Republicans could do such a move, what makes them think it a good thing to do. She been living under a rock? The Republicans are doing this ALL TO GIVE GIANT FREAKING TAX BREAKS TO THE TOP 1%, THE GROUP THAT SERIOUSLY DOES NOT NEED A TAX BREAK.

  • Phillip Miller

Could your Capital Hill correspondent have a more smug and contemptuous look on her face? Body language says a lot, and here it is saying, "biased reporter."

  • Not Politically Correct

The amount of hate against republicans in the comment section is actually quite laughable, because, there is as much or worse dirt on them if you do even a minimal amount of research.

Doubt that many will see or even take into account this comment though, most of the viewers are probably people who work for this news agency or of YouTube either way…

  • Saeid Shenof

it's not such a smart move to elect a freaking realtor to the office. right after he got elected he turned his back on his voters. all he needs to do know is to throw a middle finger at them in one of the Rally's for his voters to get the point lol.

  • Mikhael37

The Republican party has been consistently robbing Americans for the past 40 years, and Americans still vote for them! I don't know how Joe expects Republicans to lose in 2018. They will win again. I'm willing to bet on it

  • Abraham

Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia 😂Thank God you idiots shut up about the 1 year of wasting taxpayers dollars on a fake investigation just to recieve better ratings.

  • Conception Rabe

The states that want Obamacare should leave the union. America isn't supposed to be socialist. As we know from Venezuela, a former favorite place of Bernie Sanders. I can't imagine why they don't just move to that socialist utopia with every socialist policy there is to have.
