Congress is still working on its 2018 budget plan and still trying to pass big tax cuts that are primarily expected to benefit the wealthy and big corporations. Both the House and Senate plans call for tax cuts that are paid for primarily with cuts to Medicare, Medicaid education and other vital public services. Senate Leader Mitch McConnell announced that he plans to hold a vote on legislation next week that will repeal the Affordable Care Act and end Medicaid as we know it. While he doesn’t have the votes yet it’s too close to call. So we’re urging AFSCME members to call your senators and tell them to oppose the Cassidy-Graham proposal.
