Congress is still working on a budget for the fiscal year that begins October 1st. The plan, which will come up for a vote soon is to pass tax cuts for the rich and big corporations, paid for by cutting Medicare, Medicaid, education and other vital public services. This week the Trump administration announced that it would end DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. DACA protects from deportation the many who were brought to this country as children, at no fault of their own. It’s now up to Congress to pass legislation to prevent a humanitarian crisis and allow these young people to remain in this country. The only country they have known.
