Near the Jamia Millia Islamia University, at Shaheen Bagh Thousands, including women and children, have been protesting on the road. The protest has been going on for a month now. Their objective is the removal of the CAA, NRC & NPR. Due to protests, pedestrian and vehicular between South Delhi and Noida roads have been blocked. Buses are facing severe traffic on various routes due to the protest. On 14th January 2020, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court regarding the traffic in Shaheen Bagh which is causing various problems. They requested the court to reopen the roads as the protests are going on since 15th December 2019. The Delhi High Court has refused to intervene. The police must take charge make sure protestors are following the law and they must unblock the roads. Since a large group of people are protesting it is not possible for all of them to meet the Delhi Governor. This is why 8 member delegation met with the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal. Baijal appealed that since the protests were going on for a month in Shaheen baug. Due to this buses, school children, emergency hospital ambulances, locals wanting to shop, office goers, etc are facing many problems in their lives. The petition requested to end the protests and allow vehicles to pass. The delegation has submitted its demands for the withdrawal of the CAA, to L-G Baijal. At the meeting, 8 delegates finally accepted to open roads for school buses & students during exam time. But their protest would continue.
