Smell Sensitivity Intervention for Kids with Sensory Processing Issues

Hi, this is Nancy Peske, the Sensory Smart
Parent, with a Sensory Smart parenting tip for you. Smell bags with aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is great for helping kids to
either relax or perk up and for sensory kids, who very often come across really annoying
smells that they can’t handle that send them into sensory overload and really upset them,
it’s great to have a smell bag around. To make a smell bag, you take an essential
oil–vanilla and lavender tend to be calming while peppermint and citrus tend to be alerting. And then you take a small cloth, put a few
drops of oil on it, and drop it into your handy dandy plastic resealable bag, seal it
up, and your child can take this wherever they go and use it when there’s an annoying
smell or when they need to perk up or calm down. So that is your sensory smart parenting tip
and feel free to ask me any questions or leave a comment in the space below. I hope you will subscribe to my YouTube channel.
