    What Was the Enlightenment?

Modern science, medicine, political freedom, the market economy—all of them, we’re told, are the result of a sort of miracle that took place 250 years ago. That miracle is called the Enlightenment, a moment in history when philosophers suddenly overthrew religious dogma and tradition and replaced it with human reason. Harvard professor Steven Pinker puts it this way: “Progress is a gift of the ideals of the Enlightenment.” There’s just one problem with this claim. It isn’t really true. Individual but Universal

Individual but Universal (with subtitles) Monte Sahaja, Portugal 29 July 2014 Ignorance strengthens the sense of duality. It keeps it up and blinds you, makes you feel that you are this person, that you are special, or that your life is more important than others’. It feels completely natural of course, because the consciousness must look after the shop in this body. It must look after this shop in here. And in there, it must look after that shop. So this is not easy. It is very easy then to feel, ‘But, I am very different’. And in a way, this difference is OK, actually. Different but the same. Individual…

UNITED STATES BILL of RIGHTS – WikiVidi Documentary

WikiVidi.com United States Bill of Rights The Bill of Rights is the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. Proposed following the often bitter 1787–88 battle over ratification of the U.S. Constitution, and crafted to address the objections raised by Anti-Federalists, the Bill of Rights amendments add to the Constitution specific guarantees of personal freedoms and rights, clear limitations on the government’s power in judicial and other proceedings, and explicit declarations that all powers not specifically delegated to Congress by the Constitution are reserved for the states or the people. The concepts codified in these amendments are built upon those found in several earlier documents, including the Virginia Declaration…

Presumably most people in this room think that psychedelics should be legal and even in the non-medical, okay Yeah, that’s a safe assumption, right and even in non-medical context that people should be free to possess psychedelics even in the home and For anything like me perhaps you’ve spent some time arguing to that effect arguing that psychedelic drugs should be legal No doubt, a lot of ink has been spilled arguing that psychedelic drugs should be legal it was my attempt here today to begin to encourage us to Shift the nature the tone of our end of that conversation I would like to take it from one of…
