I attended a lecture given by Dr. Brian R. Dirck, and it was really interesting! I really enjoyed the video! 🙂

  • joinzdaglitch

Hey keith have you ever heard of this original 13th amendment that was supposedly removed from the constitution?some kind of title of nobility amendment? O yea great vids!

  • BTRN

Actually Mr. Hughes, you just read the 13th Amendment, put up the text for all to see but some how you never comment that what the 13th Amendment did was not abolish slavery, but set it aside as punishment for crimes. You mentioned the Black Codes that were passed yes, that was the states passing laws to put formerly enslaved person back into slavery per the 13th Amendment, as punishment for crimes. We can see the greatest effects of this legalized slavery with America having the world's largest prison population. The vast majority of those enslaved today under the 13th Amendment are disproportionately the descendants of the enslaved and the vast majority of them were "convicted" of non-violent so-called drug crimes, Nixon's "Black Codes" if you will. I just find it incredible that people can read the exception clause for slavery and still somehow claim it was abolished. You should tune in to our digital radio program sometime, google New Abolitionists Radio. Thank you for your consideration.

  • Maximus Parthas

Have you not actually READ the 13th amendment? No really. You just said "Slavery is nowhere mentioned legalized"
That is INCORRECT. At least 60% of all state constitutions have an exception clause duplicating that of the federal constitution which clearly states "Slavery is abolished —-Except for prisoners duly convicted"
The same year it was put into the constitution the first federal prison in SC started a convict leasing system using Black Codes laws to mass incarcerate former slaves and then lease them right back to mining companies, railroads and even their former slave owners plantations.

Now if that isn't a legalization of a slave trade through the justice system then wtf is? The largest for profit prison population in the history of the world today and it uses THAT EXCEPTION CLAUSE every day to codify their slave trade.

Go back to the drawing board and stop misleading people until YOU know what you're talking about.

Lawd jesus you just SHOWED IT verbatim and simply ignored that big ass exception clause like it wasn't even there.

Before stating Lincoln freed all slaves, you better read the Emancipation Proclamation. Lincoln did NOT, repeat, NOT free all slaves. Maryland, Delaware, Missouri & Kentucky were allowed to keep their slaves. Only States in conflict with the US Govt were declared emancipated.
Also, Lincoln, in his First Inaugural speech stated, "I have no purpose directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the United States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so".

  • Saymos E

Thank god for the 13th ammendment. That opposes all forms of slavery, or involuntary serving except as punishment.

  • Robby D

No. Pathetic and stupid ignorance. Just Google the missing 13th amendment to the US constitution. Pretend experts are one is the worlds biggest problems…

    Sad.

Article XIII was the Title of Nobilities Act.  The "slavery" or end of slavery would have been Article XIV, but that would not be part of the original Constitution.  This is not to contradict or discredit Keith Hughes.  This is to broaden the subject matter to there real history of the document.  Keith does a very good job presenting his message.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okGfAlIxROI

Here is the real Article XIII, part of what caused the War of 1812:

"If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive, or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall without the consent of Congress, accept and retain any present, pension, office, or emolument of any kind whatever, from any Emperor, King, Prince, or foreign Power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States, and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them."

  • Edward Cassidy

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

    Section 2.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

It's been well est. that the United States is a corporation that your states and local municipalities are corporations I think there's only one town in the United States that's not incorporated.

If one did not want to serve these corporations. After all, you're not operating as a country, but as a corporation looking out for only corporate interest above the well-being and interest of the people.

Being forced to stay in these corporations isn't that involuntary servitude?

  • Edward Cassidy

Honest Abe, that's the man In your history books. Now go look up the real honest Abe. He freed the blacks for one purpose and one purpose only black man power. Go look at the losses the union had compared to the south, He needed to replenish troops.

Great videos but your voice is quieter than the in between music. My volume is turned up to hear your voice but the loud music between the slides hurts my ears……pls fix 🙁

I teach American History and Problems of Democracy in a high school in North Dakota. I was born and raised in Alabama and spent the first forty years of my life there. I think these videos are fantastic, but I would never show them if I was teaching in the South. I don't know if this gentlemen simply had some terrible experience in the South or what, but the South is not a bunch of hillbillies sitting on the porch at the banjo shack. I absolutely hate his impersonation of Southerners. The implication is always negative. Well, I better get back to my grits and chitlins.

Slavery was already being phased out. They imposed taxes on slaves coming into the country as a step to ABOLISH it with respect to personal property rights and peoples' individual right to contract. Slavery was often times a contract. Mississippi didn't ratify the 13th amendment until 2013. Check it out. My state finally voted to ratify the 13th amendment in 1995 but we failed to make it official by notifying the U.S. Archivist. We did that in January of 2013. This snafu was discovered when someone was inspired to do some research after watching the movie "Lincoln".

  • Ros Mickens

Section ONE of the 13th Amendment is VERY INTERESTING; it states that no one can be enslaved or under INVOLUNTARY servitude EXCEPT if they are convicted of a crime. In other words – SLAVERY STILL EXISTS FOR THOSE WHO ARE CONVICTED OF CRIMES. Thus, the Prison Industrial Complex now exists!

  • Matt Zurzola

Everybody looks at Lincoln as such a hero but he was actually a tyrant who had his own selfish reasons for keeping the country together the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery till he could use it to his advantage he did horrible things to Northerners and Southerners during his presidency I already know what they were but it would be nice for some honesty from a teacher

  • mjgarrett9885ify

propagation B.S. the illegal ratification of 13th amendment is why we the people no longer have as much freedom as we should have . remember all men are created equal not some men or white men , its all men !

  • Christian Cabrera

hey keith do you know that i try click those videos for more info but aint working so i dont see them so just letting you know.,

  • seoulkidd1

the 13th amendment wasn't just about blacks it says involuntary we all voluntarily are slaves when you agree to let the irs take so call income taxs out of your pay.

  • David Brister

When are you going to cover Martial Law? Why America is still under Martial Law? What it means with gold fringes and the gold tassels.

  • David Brister

Keith Hughes When are you going to cover the tax law covering 864 section N, where it shows that Americans do not have to pay taxes. That it is all voluntary to pay taxes according to the Constitution.

  • De1337Du

What would u say are the most important factors in order to get the 13th amendment passed? Lincoln? Increased trading with Europe? Dred Scott?

  • Bobby Brown

Georgia and North Carolina may have been the last states necessary to fulfill the 3/4 of all states requirement. However, the last state to officially adopt and ratify the amendment was Mississippi and that was way back in 2013.  Still a long way to go all!

  • denver mason

The truth is that the preamble says "all men are created equal" such is both legal and lawful. I also think you could educate yourself on what is actually the true 13th amendment.

Bankers came in post civil war and took advantage of the broke nation. They set up the US as a federal corporation. See 28 USC 3002 (15)(a). Dc and the territories are their jurisdiction and “US citizens” are set up as their franchises. This is why the verbiage says “and subject to their jurisdiction. This is why they apply civil codes in a common law nation. Know who/what a “citizen” is versus a National. Know Civil law vs common law.

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." This is saying that we can't force slavery or make them do involuntary servitude unless they are criminals. We can't FORCE slavery or make them do INVOLUNTARY servitude. If we have the person sign a contract stating they will do two commands of an individual's choice, it may include slavery. It is not forced as they willingly signed the contract, and it is not involuntary as they were, by will, signing the contract. Boom, loophole.

The 13th Section 1 is used to abuse people of color via the system by race soldiers (infiltrators of the law departments aka: police) thus is the reason for the disparity of people of color within the prison industrial system. Don't talk about the 13th if you're not going express the full truth.)

    Genesis 15:13-14
    [13]And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
[14]And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

    Deuteronomy 28:68
[68]And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.

    Revelation 13:10
[10]He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

    Isaiah 14:1-2
[1]For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
[2]And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

Fools! They used slavery to removed the original 13th amendment. The original 13th was one the most important of the amendments. It used to read that we as citizens are Kings of our own property. By removing it through declaration of war they took control of our country and we lost liberty.

  • Butters Stotch

So slavery still exists in America, and it’s not only black people that are slaves , it’s white people as well , and Hispanic’s and Asians and native Americans and other minority’s .
