The Intervention Initiative: UWE student bystanders speak out against sexual and domestic abuse!


Who am I? I am an active bystander I am an active bystander I will never allow abuse to occur in my student community I will step up, speak out I am part of the solution I am part of the solution If I hear anyone use the word rape as banter, as a joke, or as an insult I will tell them that’s not okay If I witness verbal or physical harrassment I will intervene If I see my friend trying to go home with someone who is too drunk to consent, I will stop him If I see someone spiking a drink, I will intervene If I hear anyone saying anything that is offensive, degrading, disrespectful or abusive I will take action If I notice my friends boyfriend or girlfirend being controlling If I need to know where my friend is all the time Stopping my friend from socialising Texting them constantly Demanding to know where they are I will help them get the help they need If one of my friends is being pressured to have sex when they don’t want to I will stop them If my friend tells me they have been raped I will believe them I will not blame them I will offer my help and listen All the students have the right to be free from violence and abuse Step up, speak up You are the future leaders of society You are part of the solution
