Well…I Don’t Know What To Believe Anymore. Trump’s Due Process Controversy, Huge Strikes, and More

Sup you Beautiful Bastards, hope you’re having a fantastic Thursday, welcome back to the Philip DeFranco show, and let’s just jump into it. And the first thing we’re gonna talk about today, by far one of the most requested stories from the past 24 hours, is what the hell happened between Donald Trump and a group of lawmakers when talking about guns. So on Wednesday, President Trump held a meeting with congressional representatives from both parties to address gun laws and school safety in light of the recent tragedy. And we need to talk about what Donald Trump said in that room because it seemed to surprise everyone. First up when Steve Scalise was talking about concealed carry reciprocity, That’s essentially that, let’s say you’re in the the weakest state for concealed carry Lowest requirements, fewest restrictions in that state, you could then bring that to another state, and regardless of what the law was there, you’d be fine. To that, Donald Trump said this: “I think that maybe that bill will someday pass, “But it should pass as a separate. If you’re gonna put concealed carry between states into this bill, “we’re talking about a whole new ballgame and, “You know I’m with you, but let it be a separate bill. “You’ll never get this passed, if you add concealed carry to this you’ll never get it passed.” Then regarding bump stocks, he said this: “And I’m gonna write that out, but we can do that with an executive order. “I’m gonna write the bump stock, essentially write it out, so you won’t have to worry about bump stock, “Shortly, that’ll be gone. “We can focus on other things. “Frankly, I don’t even know if it would be good in this bill, it’s nicer to have a separate “Piece of paper where it’s gone, and we’ll have that done pretty quickly, “They’re working on it right now.” Then, despite the NRA and Republican pushback, Donald Trump once again mentioned the age requirement “Somebody can buy a handgun at 21. “Now this is not a popular thing to say in terms of the NRA, but I’m saying it anyway. “I’m gonna just have to say it “But you can’t buy, I mean, think of it, “You can buy, a handgun you can’t buy one, you have to wait until you’re 21, “But you can buy the kind of weapon used in the school shooting at 18. “I think it’s something you have to think about.” (Lady in purple): Would you sign that? “I’ll, I tell you what, I’m gonna give it a lot of consideration, “and I’m the one bringing it up, but a lot of people don’t want to bring it up because they’re afraid to bring it up” He then, on several occasions, said how other politicians were afraid of the NRA but he wasn’t: “And they do have great power I agree with that, “They have great power over you people! “They have less power over me “I don’t need. I don’t, what do I need?” “So I was just curious as to what you did in your bill? “You dont address it.” “We, we didn’t address it Mr President. Look, I think-” “You know why? Because you are afraid of the NRA” Now, regarding the senator that Donald Trump singled out, Pat Toomey, we’ve seen two different reports there. According to Politico, Pat Toomey has received over $167 thousand from the gun lobby in the past, but as a spokesperson for Pat Toomey told Fox News And from what we could find, that actually does appear to be true, it looks like the NRA has not contributed to Pat Toomey since 2010. We also saw Donald Trump tell senator Feinstein he’s more than happy to look at her assault rifles ban: “I would be most honored if you would take a look at it” (“I will”) (“I will”)
“And we will get it to you and let us know what you what you think of it”
(“I will”) And then, in my opinion, one of the most interesting and surprising things that Donald Trump said, came from this back and forth with Mike Pence: “If an individual is reported to be a potential danger to themselves or others Allow due process, so that no one’s rights are trampled But the ability to go to court obtain an order and then collect not only the firearms but any any weapons in the position we’re going to take the Firearms first and then go to court because that’s another system because a lot of times by the time you go to court it takes So long to go to court to get the due process Procedures, I like taking the guns early like in this Crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida. He had a lot of fires They saw everything to go the court would have taken a long time, so you could do exactly what you’re saying But take the guns first go through due process second, okay I just want you to imagine if four years ago Barack Obama said that same fucking sentence take the guns first due Process second yesterday. We talked about the possibility of red flag laws what Donald Trump. Just mentioned here is the most extreme version of a red flag law and I say the most extreme because Even right now most Democrats wouldn’t argued to do that They would say like vice president Mike Pence said you know when people say? There’s a warning they can go to a court order then go through the process Then take those guns or keep that person from buying guns and just in general. I’m at a loss for words I didn’t expect Trump to say something like that I don’t know if Trump expected to say something like that now following that meeting and president’s term statements I think most people are at a point where they go Do we believe what he just said I mean one it appears There are a good number of people that feel that Donald Trump kind of just repeats what the last person told him is a good idea Republican senator, Ben Sasse Releasing a statement saying wrong leaders don’t automatically agree with the last thing that was said to them we have the Second Amendment and due process of law for a reason we’re not ditching any Constitutional protection simply because the last person the president talked to today doesn’t like the thing is to me whether I agree with Ben Sasse Is politics or not that statement seems somewhat accurate I mean all we have to do is look to the president’s words on daca I know there’s so much news constantly so it’s sometimes hard to keep track But this is what Trump said about daca. Specifically a daca bill On January 9th. It should be a bipartisan bill It should be a bill of love Truly should be a bill of love and we can do that when this group comes back. Hopefully with an agreement this group and others From the Senate from the house comes back with an agreement. I’m signing it. I mean I will be signing it I’m not going to say oh gee I want this so I want that but then later either because he Completely changed how he felt or enough people that are close to him told him no. We’re gonna go a different route This is what we need to do the Democrats are evil They’re trying to trick you all of a sudden there were unmovable pillars that he demanded to be in the bill for him to support it even at one point saying I’d love to see a shutdown if he couldn’t get what he wanted in this bill as well as then threatening to veto the Bipartisan bill that had the best chance and so really who knows where the president’s gonna land today tomorrow a month from now if asked Questions like is the president being erratic or are people around him the ones changing his mind is it due to public outcry Does Trump look at the places that have previously Shown him a lot of support like a Breitbart where all of a sudden yesterday They called him a gun grabber which is also very concerning because that seems to feed into the TV ratings president narratives about praise rather than policy I don’t know them so with that said I want to pass a question off to you What are your thoughts around this situation this meeting the due process part? I’d love to know what you’re thinking and why and those comments down below from that I want to share some stuff I loved today and today in awesome brought to you by D. Brand I might remember D brand from when they launched the D brand grip they raised over a million dollars. Well, they just launched a brand new material called Black Camo and Best part today only if you want to snag one they have 25% off site-wide and you get free shipping if you orders over $20 so if you want to snag one go to dbrand.com/phillyd Or click the link in the description for the first bit of Awesome. We’re gonna do another recommendation Sometimes to do with movies, maybe you haven’t heard of like Train to Busan. We talked about games like Celeste today I want to officially recommend. I thought it was going to be garbage they decided to reboot Queer Eye it is on Netflix now, and I once again. I thought it was going to be trash. I watched it. It’s great It’s great feel-good television of course every piece of contents not for everyone So I just say give it give it the first episode and then let me know what you thought Then, I only got a video from casually explained on critical thinking in Chadwick Boseman surprising Black Panther fans. Not that he needs the views, but we got a great film theory. The Bee Movie lied to you! We had Ty Burrell on Hot Ones and if you’re interested in an entertaining video on string theory that channel that I Mispronounced 7 out of 10 times, put out a video on it. If you’d like to see the full versions everything I just shared the secret Link of the day anything at all links as always are in the description down below Then in ‘How is it possible for this company to suck any more than they already do?’ News Equifax, has announced today, that in addition to the one hundred forty five point five million social security numbers and other bits of very personal Information that was stolen from them there were also now reportedly an additional 2.4 million other Americans affected. This wasn’t a new breach It was from that same 2017 brief But they’re just letting you know about it now. Now the good news is that if you were a part of this 2.4 million We’re not talking Social Security numbers with this one, but things like partial driver’s license So I guess just a random reminder that Equifax actually sucked even more It still will somehow continue to be a successful business. Then, for those you wondering how John Kelly the White House chief of staff Currently feels about his job I want to play this video from a homeland security event I would just open by saying I have almost no Right to be up here on the stage and when I was In the depart of every right, and I yes I miss every one of you every day I went Truly at six months The last thing I wanted to do is walk away from one of the great honors of my life being the Secretary of Homeland Security But I did something wrong and God punished me, I guess Depending on where you land politically you probably think that he’s saying this for one of two reasons Some people will say that it’s about the treatment from the media and others will say it’s because of the just general chaos in the White House There is a lot going on but it truly seems like that man’s life is miserable and in an update to the Dick’s Sporting Goods Story that we talked about yesterday more companies have now joined in Walmart announcing going forward We are raising the age restriction for purchase of firearms and ammunition to 21 years of age adding We are also removing items from our website resembling assault style rifles including Non-lethal airsoft guns and toys our heritage as a company has always been in serving sportsmen and hunters And we will continue to do so any responsible way also today We saw a Kroger the largest supermarket chain in America Saying they’re making changes specifically that they will raise the minimum age for purchasing guns and ammunition at its Fred Meyer Locations to 21 and so that will affect the 43 stores they have across, Alaska, Idaho Oregon and Washington my initial reaction to that is I didn’t even know Kroger owned Supermarkets that sold gun the main point more businesses have now joined in on this move and I’ll be interesting to see one how those companies are affected and two if any others join or Resist and also how vocal they are about it Then an a quickie story that I’m just gonna throw in here because I’ve been messaged several times about it And I want it to go away this really pertains to something We’ve said in the past where a creator cannot control what their fans do as a family of longer by the name of Anna saucony Jolie tweeted out this picture with the caption to love your body as a beautiful thing Mine has given me three gorgeous children and is currently home to my fourth more pics in my eating disorder story over on my blog And if you go there, it’s exactly what she says an own response to that another Twitter user respondent You know how beautiful your body looks mad at you now my daughter was wider hips and a butt looks up to you and now Has to see this how dare you I hope you got the confidence you needed to let little teens down personally I have a body that looks ten times better than you But I don’t throw it in my little 14 year olds face and the reason I’m mentioning. This is in that person’s bio It read only rejoined Twitter, so I could vote for filly D to win the streamys again this year Sorry for the spam so I’m quickly mentioning the story for two reasons one you can never control what your fans do and Two to ask this person to unfollow me and remove my name from their description Eve augers in particular are constantly under attack from Everyone I was find it disgusting that you’re attacking another woman for doing with her body as she wants and as far as your daughter Having to see these easily pg-13 photos Maybe have a conversation with your child I feel like having a conversation with your child about feeling more comfortable in your own skin and the fact that some people have eating Disorders is probably better than her watching you it complete dickhead to a stranger online But that’s just my quickie take on and then let’s talk about the really interesting news coming out of West Virginia if you haven’t heard Yet today Is the sixth day that public schools across West Virginia are closed this because 20,000 teachers in the state are on a strike, which means? 270,000 students will be staying home from school as far as why the teachers are protesting It’s partially about the low pay when you look at the numbers It makes sense because West Virginia average teacher pay ranks among the lowest in the nation now What’s really interesting is the teacher walkouts actually started last Thursday? And they started in response to a new law that would actually give them raises but that raise was only a two percent increase starting in the summer followed by a one percent increase in 2020 and 2021 so based on average pay that’s eight hundred eight dollars next year and four hundred four for the next two years That’s not great considering in 2016 West Virginia teachers made an average of forty five thousand six hundred twenty two dollars with the national average being over 58,000 that makes it so West Virginia’s pay rate is 48th out of 50 teachers have also argued that yes getting any percentage whatsoever obviously is more money for what they’re actually taking home not Really because this increase barely covers the increases that they’re having to pay for health insurance in fact some teachers in the state have also said their pays so low they have to collect federal assistance like which is a Professional degree teacher working two jobs I qualified for WIC and food stamps, and we collected on the WIC So that’s how low teacher pay is here You know there were a lot of times where we had to choose between groceries And you know health coverage for my family So this isn’t just an issue a bunch of people squabbling over a little bit of insurance benefits Or a little bit of pay we are really in a bad place here now as far as the government responds We’ve seen we’ve seen Virginia, Governor Jim Justice holding three town halls in northern West Virginia during those discussions teachers governor justice push back on the teachers demanding for higher wages selling teachers That would be unlikely for them to see a bigger raise and the currently approved plan because the state just doesn’t have the money speaking at a high school Monday Justice said quote I would tell you that if you look at the numbers And you were me and I look at them all the time doing any more than what has been done with your pay raise today You’re not going to like this But it would not be the smart thing to do it would absolutely Be from a financial standpoint a very very very dumb move governor justice did say however if the state was able to fix its economic Troubles teachers would get a raise so just in general things not looking fantastic for the teachers there But we did see some positives governor justice also promised to establish a task force within the next seven to ten days to address the teachers concern so that was Something we also saw the Public Employees insurance agency Which actually administers the health care programs for the teachers also agreed to freeze health insurance premiums and rate this for the next fiscal year for state workers Which means in the short term teachers won’t have to pay more for insurance also justice says he plans to look into a natural gas Tax that could help fund the public employees insurance agents They’re also two bills currently in West Virginia State Senate that could help with high insurance cost one would transfer twenty nine million dollars from The state’s rainy day fund to freeze insurance rates And the other would make it so that 20% of future general fund surpluses would go towards a separate fund Specifically that fund would be aimed to stabilizing the employees insurance and following all of this Tuesday night It looked like the strength might actually come to an end a deal was made union leaders for the teachers governor justice made a deal which proposed giving teachers a 5% raise and that deal Which is now a bill is going through the legislature after that announcement some news outlets even said that the strike was over But as you know because we’re talking about it today it Isn’t this strike is reportedly continuing because this deal doesn’t address the other issues the teachers have specifically their health care and the public employees Insurance agency the teachers are also arguing that all of the proposed Solutions are temporary and they want something long-term, and so the strike continued yesterday We saw teachers continuing the protests by rallying outside the state legislative chambers of course it’s important to point out that not everyone is behind this stress some are arguing that the teacher strike is negatively affecting children across the state especially Children who are under privileged and actually rely on the schools for food now some local news outlets have reported that schools handed out food To students last Wednesday ahead of the string one food bank Reportedly filled 700 backpacks full of food for students last week an important thing to note There is that was just one place 700 backpacks. We’re talking about over 270,000 kids also to handle the situation we’ve seen makeshift childcare centers pop up set up at churches community centers the state’s Attorney General Patrick Morrissey has even called the Illegal saying in a statement this week our teachers and school service personnel are among the state’s best and brightest and I wholeheartedly support their Cries for higher salaries and affordable health care however a work stoppage of any length on any ground is illegal this illegal work stoppage affects Hundreds of thousands of students and families across our state our office is prepared to support any relevant state agency or board with legal remedies That may choose to pursue to uphold the law we also stand ready to assist and support any County Board of Education Or County Superintendent as they enforce the law so far there hasn’t been any legal action pursued against the teachers But as the strike continues As time goes on we may see that change and for now we’re gonna have to wait and see how long the teachers hold now What West Virginia lawmakers do and respond so I want to pass the question off to you What are your thoughts on this specific situation you support the teacher striking or no it’s hurting the state It’s hurting the children and all these families. Also. What’s your opinion on the state potentially cracking down on these teachers that are strike? I really love to know what you think and why in those comments down below That’s where I’m going to end today’s show remember if you liked this video you like what I’m trying to do on this channel hit That like button if you knew where hit that subscribe button that way you make sure you don’t miss these daily weekday videos which actually If you did miss yesterday’s show you want to catch up click or tap right there to watch that or if you need something lighter We have the newest behind-the-scenes vlog clicker tap right there to watch that box. That lady said she has a body better than the pregnant lady. She must be a butter face then. Everything looks good butter face.

  • Jub jub

Referring to the teacher story; yet the ignorant say that anyone on government assistance i.e. WIC/Food Stamps/etc, are just lazy freeloaders that need to get jobs..

  • Sinner Savedbygrace

Romans 3:23 states: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;". We are all sinners, that have committed at least one sin in our lives, which earns us an eternal punishment in Hell. Revelation states 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.". God sent his Son, Jesus, to Earth as a perfect sinless sacrifice. To take on all the sins of the world; both past, present, and future sins. Shedding his blood on the cross as a blood atonement for all sins. After dying on the cross, he rose from the dead on the 3rd day and rose to Heaven. To show life after death. To show everlasting life through Jesus's sacrifice. John 14:6 states: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.". Romans 10:13 states "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.".

Eternal life in heaven is just one prayer away. All you have to do is believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross for your sins. As an atonement for your sins. And rose from the grave on the 3rd day. Ask Jesus to save you of your sins and give you eternal life in Heaven. Salvation is a free and everlasting gift from God. Please don't let pride drag you into eternal punishment in Hell, but ask Jesus to give you eternal life in Heaven. If you're getting a strong feeling of resistance while reading this, it's because Satan doesn't want you to get saved. He wants you to resist, and think it's not real. He wants you in Hell for all eternity with him. Hell is not a fun place, like worldly people like to imagine. It's everlasting torture with no relief. I'm only taking the time to text this, because I want to get the message out. There are so many distractions in life keeping people from witnessing to other people. Keeping people from thinking about salvation. Keeping people from thinking about life after death. Please, ask Jesus into your hearts to save you of your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteous. Ask him for a place in Heaven, and he will save you from eternal damnation in Hell.

If you can't buy a gun until you're 21, and can't buy a beer, you're not an adult.
Lets ban children below 21 from joining the military, and stop charging them for crimes as if they were adults!!!

  • Phat Vegan

Boycott all these worthless companies that don't give a damn about our Constitution and want to rip it down and replaced it with communistic powers. Which they pretty much already been successful at

  • Phat Vegan

This West Virginia piece of garbage that is suggesting your right to assemble is illegal. That man should be stuck in a Cell by himself for the next 20 years. As horrible as that sounds it's even worse with that man in his position is saying. We just might as well call ourselves the Communist States of the US. Instead of calling ourselves Democratic, because we are far far far far from it!

  • Phat Vegan

If a teacher can't afford to pay their bills you have no right to ask them to show up to work. That is absolutely disgusting thought in all aspects! You hamstring someone into a corner like that it's ridiculous

  • Grumpy Goose

"Going on a strike is illegal, because of how it affects thousands of children and families!"

    And having underpaid teachers doesn't?

  • elliewellie

My parents lived in the middle of no-where under the age of 21. Nearby, someone's house got broken in to. A week later, there was a goddamn bear in the yard. Some people under 21 NEED a rifle.

  • The Ordinary Gamer

I'm not usually one to weigh in on teacher's pay and generally think they should get paid more, after all like any other job you get what you pay for. That said if WV is averaging at 48k a year, is that really terrible? Considering the holidays they get off not to mention all of summer? I make a little more than that and work holidays and year round…

  • Peoplesuuck

Teachers (here in Canada) make more than their share of money. I support teachers making high wages but their is a constant cry for more and more and more when compared to factory workers or anyone in labour such as but not limited to roofing, construction, sewage etc etc or even emergency services such as fire, police or paramedic… Teachers have FAR easier jobs than any of these most of the time. Yes they deserve their already good paying jobs. Don't take it away! Having said that in most places I know they have the best healthcare and wages and still cry for more. How about no.

  • andrewjfaas

I’m a trump supporter but you can’t be guilty before proven innocent the fourth amendment is in place for a reasons it will be unconstitutional another knee jerk reaction that will go nowhere

  • Beth Ann

See if I was a super rich celebrity like the Kardashians or some sports players I would donate towards these teachers funds and towards education. Hoarding money is selfish and has no reason at all.

  • Beth Ann

Also it’s not the schools responsibility to babysit and feed someone’s kids. That’s the parents job and is a whole other issue for these parents

  • LanePain

As someone who grew up in West Virginia's Raleigh county school district, I can attest to the qualms of the teachers. I was able to make long and lasting relationships with many of teachers and I could immediately understand how impoverished our state is. We need help, and this teacher pay raise is a good way to start a chain reaction of betterment for my state.

  • elfudge35

no, the teachers' strike is not illegal when the government who should be funding them adequately is failing to do so, that's not a discussion

  • ThomasSwick

About the West Virginia Teacher Strike, I think I can give a pretty good outlook on the this whole situation because I go to middle school in West Virginia. I live in Charleston and if you don’t know Charleston is the capital city of WV and it’s where the Capital building is and where the teachers are striking. I actually went to the strike on Tuesday last week and I have to say it was interesting. I didn’t actually join them but I got to see them protest in person from a safe distance or in other words not smothered together throwing up signs trying to get higher wages. I asked my teachers before everything happened what they thought. Almost all of them had a problem with there health insurance. They said that they want higher wages but almost all of them pointed out that they had a problem with there health insurance and that was the main thing they wanted fixed. Honestly to be truthful I originally thought it was just about getting paid but it turns out it’s also how much they have to pay. Also my outlook on this is it’s not illegal to protest against shitty pay and expensive insurance they have a right to speak out against that . But they have to eventually start teaching soon because we have already lost our spring break and In turn we will lose days of summer break to. I’m not saying that summer break is the most important thing either it’s just something that bothers parents, students etc for many reasons and not any I’m going to list because it isn’t as important as anything else. The kids that have to live off the school food and have to stay home hungry brings anger to me. Kids are suffering because teachers want to strike. And teachers are suppose to teach for the kids not to make them suffer there suppose to prepare them for a bright and successful future not hungry days at home. And my final thought on this is they have to stop now or everything is going to go to wack. I really am not on one side I think both have very valid points so basically I have mixed emotions.

  • Kat

Personally I think it is awesome that the teachers are protesting. They are in the middle of teaching a very important lesson to those kids about unions and their importance. It does suck that some kids arent getting the meals they need but they are just trying to make sure their families are taken care of as well.

I voted against Trump in the primaries because I believed he was only pretending to be conservative. I voted against Trump in the general election because I believed he was only pretending to be conservative. Over the last year, mostly the tail end of last year and early this year, he had slowly convinced me that he is actually conservative. And now over the last week, I fear that my initial suspicions may have been correct. #DeFranco2020

I'm a student from West Virginia, and of course I'm loving my week long break. However, I do support my teachers more than so I can have another Christmas Break. Our state is poor, but I feel like if we put our money that we do have towards the teachers– it'll better our state in the long run. Thank you for covering the teacher strike because most things dealing with West Virginia gets overlooked. From someone inside the state, I don't think we will have school for the rest of this week too. However, I don't think any legal charges will be put on the teachers because we are already needing 700+ more teachers in the state. Keep doing what you're doing!

  • Sam Cashmoney

I love how one of the politicians in the room with trump stared into the camera like she was on the office

  • Jose Fernandez

It should never be illegal to “Not work”. We aren’t in a socialist, communistic, totalitarian country.

  • Mark Rose

I would really like to know how little or much leverage people actually have on him. He seems to be able to fire anything out his mouth. He seems to support whatever he likes best. But what exactly is it that he believes in? I really haven't paid enough attention to know..

  • Goretorium Gaming

Okay to those teachers you make almost 3x what I do as a chef In Denver where cost of living is much higher than wv… And I don't struggle at all… I don't understand how your collecting assistance or how your blowing so much money… Your burning 3x my cost of living in one of the most expensive cities In the us… Not to say teachers aren't extremely important but you make 40k+ a year I wish I was in your tax bracket…

  • volksrod69

I've lived in wv for the last 28 years. Born and raised. But can't wait to get out of the state. Union mentality is ruining the state every year. Like the teachers. They make a pretty considerable salary in the state of wv. But can't afford to eat? Woe is me says the union.

  • Katie Lee

It's such bullshit that Equifax gets away with this crap. I looked on their site when the breach first happened, and it said I "might have" been affected. After this new news, it says I "have been" affected. I'm so angry that they get to continue to lie and suck without consequences. Meanwhile, I get to worry and keep checking my personal info.

  • Flying Llama

Sounds like if children rely on schools for food that you are saying that these public schools are welfare centers as well as learning centers. Seem's like more of a reason to pay the teachers more, but hey the politicians will probably just give tax breaks to keys of power.

  • Fluteperson01

my mother has her masters degree and is a teacher, she makes less than the average still, at 42,000 a year, which is rediculous, we are in texas which has a minimum salary and my mothers is the min,…. its sad

  • Aleah Walker

This goes beyond the teachers. PEIA covers insurance for all state workers, state police, and public employees. Mitch Carmichael has stated he doesn't care what the governor says, no raise will be discussed this legislative session. We are going on day 9.

  • Baraka Gitari

The fact that the teachers striking has such a disastrous affect shows how much they are needed; their pay should reflect that.

2nd Amendment will come into play if they limit long guns to people under 21. You are an adult at 18. The bill of rights protects your right to bear firearms. Currently it is not a violation because an 18 can get a firearm (long gun). Once that is removed, you have a constitutional violation.

If All politicians had to live on teacher pay and healthcare benefits, then we would see a change real quick.

As someone who's not american, it truly fascinates me every single time I hear Trump speak. In every single sentece he says something narcissistic. His need to show his "knowledge" and power off makes him sound incredibly childish, and I would never trust him to lead my country.

I don't get why it matters if Obama or Trump said that re: due process. If he said this about literally anything else, people would be pissed, but it was about 2A, so many are cheering this. People should be pissed and scared about this in ANY context.

Teachers everywhere are incredibly underpaid. These are the people we trust a giant portion of our future with-to educate the next generation. Teachers are important and they are treated like underpaid babysitters. They deserve the ability to pay for their (livable) lifestyle working only a teaching job and not having to work extra jobs! And on top of it-the majority of teachers spend money on their classrooms because they need materials that the school has no budget for. These are people who have committed their life to bettering the world and,as a country, we are taking gross advantage of them

Trump is playing more 4D chess to see which Republicans and Democrats agree with due process second and which Republicans agree with the gun restrictions to single them out before the re-elections.

Let’s see these teachers make a little over 45,000 a year and pay for health coverage and the governor makes 150,000 salary, health insurance provided and so many other perks. Hmmm 🤔 yeah the money 💰 is just not there.

It’s pretty sad this is the only way my home state makes the philly d show. WV teachers definitely deserved the raise.

The standard of living and pay in West Virginia is so low that the teachers already made more than most people. I rented a 3 bedroom brick house in West Virginia on 2 acres with a storage building for $500 a month.

Gosh darn it Trump, even Republicans are starting to hate you. If you don't pick up your game, than the next election will be very one sided.

May I say that Jacob Fertig @ 12:34 is an "Art Teacher" so it's not like he's (how do I say this?) the most important teacher… Granted, art is important, but if you can't afford to pay people, maybe make some necessary (but unfortunate) cuts…

If you’re going to say I can’t buy a hand gun at 18 but I can be drafted to protect my country at that age, I have an issue. I can protect my country but not my own home? There’s something wrong there.

You know the quality of decency has gone way down in the country when all over social media and YT, you can find scores of people actually arguing AGAINST improving conditions for school teachers. What kind of scum have all these beefs with higher pay, better benefits, and more reasonable conditions for teachers? I mean, do we even care about succeeding, anymore? Or maybe we just think it's more entertaining to fuck things up for everyone, now. Is that it?
When your grandmother gets old, and gets cold easily, and asks you for a throw blanket to wrap up in, you don't argue with her about the actual temperature reading of the room. You just get her the damn blanket.

    WRT teachers: bonkers to me.
teachers have the 2nd most important job in the world (first being parenting).
they are literally in charge of raising the future generation of the country. You want the people who will be responsible for the country (and the world) in the future to be raised by the very best. Training, supplying and retaining the very best takes a lot of resources, but it is worth it.
As long as the future generations keep improving, all other issues will cost less and less because we will find better solutions for them.

Raising the next generation is the most important thing for a country, and budgets should reflect that.

Kate Brown Oregon governor has essentially done the take the guns before due process. In Oregon there is a court process before taking the guns, however the person who is being tried doesn't know about it until they take the guns… Then they have 1 month to prove their innocence or 1 year without the option to own a gun. I disagree with this as it seems an easy road to go down to take away guns if misused.
